LIBRARY GUIDELINES & POLICIES
LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS ON THE USE OF THE LIBRARY
Strictly “NO I.D. NO ENTRY” Policy.
The Library is for reading, study and research. Silence must be observed at all times.
Respect other readers, that is, Loud conversations, discussions, and use of loud cell phones are prohibited to avoid disturbing others.
Respect the faculty, administrators and other personnel inside the library (e.g. greeting good morning and good afternoon in a soft voice).
Respect the librarian and other library staff and address them with Miss or Sir when having a transaction with them (e.g. borrowing a library material, asking for help in locating an item, etc.).
Bags and other forms of baggage should be left in the Depository Corner or in the Reading Area.
Foods are STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED inside the library. Snacks must be kept inside the bag.
Lending of school I.D. is strictly prohibited.
Stealing, vandalism/destruction of library properties such as books, periodicals, computer programs, chairs, tables, etc. shall be subjected to disciplinary action.
In order to maintain an appropriate atmosphere in the library, the students must; keep the library in order, push the chair back against the table when they leave the library, return the book/s to the book drop, refrain from sitting on the tables and should throw waste paper and other scrap materials in the waste can. No littering.
Library users who consistently fail to follow the library’s rules will be issued a referral and are subject to loss library privileges for the remainder of the school/academic year.
Disciplinary actions for violating library rules and regulations are:
1st Offense - Verbal warning
2nd Offense - Violation Report / Letter for Guidance
3rd Offense - Suspension of library privileges for one semester
RULES AND REGULATIONS ON THE USE OF COMPUTER AND INTERNET:
The library user will sign first in the COMPUTER LOG BOOK.
The use of computers and access to the internet are for academic purposes ONLY. FACEBOOK, TWITTER and other Social Media platforms are not allowed.
The computer workstations are designed for individual use. On occasion, two people may be allowed to use a computer together as long as they are not disruptive.
Library users may use the computers at least one (1) hour per day. Depending on computer availability, your time may be extended for an additional hour or more.
BORROWING POLICIES
"NO I.D., NO SERVICE"
Borrowing of books is a first-come, first-served basis. Reservation is strictly prohibited.
A. Students (Undergrad, Graduate and Senior High School)
Students are allowed to borrow a maximum of three (3) books at the same time.
All books that are in the Reserve Section are for Library Use and Overnight Use only. A maximum of three (3) Reserved books are allowed to be borrowed by one student at the same time.
Theses/ Dissertations/ Practical Researches/ Feasibility Studies are restricted for ROOM USE – ONLY. Only abstracts and bibliographies are allowed to be photocopied.
Students who are also faculty/employee members can borrow up to five (5) books.
Renewal of Borrowed book/s is allowed if not in demand.
All borrowed learning resources should be returned a week before the final examination days and a week before Christmas vacation.
B. Employee and Faculty (Undergrad, Graduate, Senior High School and General Education)
Faculty members/employees shall be allowed to borrow five (5) books per semester.
All borrowed books should be returned one (1) week before the end of every semester.
C. Alumni / Visiting Outside Users
Alumni / Visiting Outside Users can have access to library materials but restricted for ROOM –USE – ONLY.
Requirements:
Alumni: Present the Alumni Library card or any valid proof that they are a graduate of PSBA-Manila.
Outside Users: Referral Letter from their Chief Librarian and a fee of fifty pesos (P50.00) payable at the Cashier’s Office.
D. General References and Periodicals
This collection is for Library Use and Photocopying only.
E. Vertical File Materials
These are clippings cut from newspapers and magazines mounted on newsprint, placed in folders, arranged alphabetically according to subject headings and filed in the steel filing cabinets. They are strictly for ROOM-USE-ONLY.
F. Theses, Dissertation, Project Research, Feasibility Studies and Practical Research
This collection is for Library Use only. Photocopying is strictly prohibited.
G. Archives / Special Collections
This collection includes the PSBA Manila Yearbooks and other archival collections related to PSBA Manila and is for Library Use only.
H. Non-Print Materials
Such as CDs/DVDs, other materials (maps, charts, pictures, etc.) are for ROOM-USE-ONLY but can be borrowed by faculty for their instructional needs/media.
The library offers borrowing books from the library in schedule basis by filling up the “Book for Pick-Up Form” (https://tinyurl.com/PSBA-Mla-Lib-BookForPickUp), borrower can renew the borrowed book/s by following our "Book Renewal Guidelines" and for returning the borrowed book, borrowers should follow our "Book Return Guidelines".
J. Photocopy
Books/ periodicals borrowed for photocopying purposes should be returned the same day the material is borrowed.
FINES AND PENALTIES
Students with overdue books will be charged ten pesos (Php 10.00) per day per book, payable at the Cashier Office.
Faculty and Employees with overdue books will be charged twenty pesos (Php 20.00) per day per book, payable at the Cashier Office.
A fine of five pesos (Php 5.00) will be charged to late returns of materials for photocopy.
LOST / DEFACED / MUTILATED LIBRARY MATERIAL
Lost materials while on loan should be reported at once to the Librarian In-Charge/ Library Staff to avoid accumulating overdue fines and the replacement cost of the material should be paid immediately.
If a book belonging to a set is lost, the borrower will be charged for replacement of the entire set.
If he/she is unable to replace the lost book with a new one, he/she has to pay two times the cost of the book or the cost of acquiring a new one, whichever is higher payable at the Cashier Office.
Any issue/defect in a book or other library material that a library patron has checked out must be reported right away to the librarian in-charge/ library staff. The last borrower is accountable for any damage that the library staff may find.
If the pages are slightly torn, a fine of one hundred pesos (P100.00) must be paid upon the return of the book.
Book/s/ Library materials that have sustained damage beyond normal wear are regarded as lost book/s and must either be compensated for or replaced. (If a borrower discovers damage to a book, he should notify the librarian right away to avoid being held accountable for the damage.)
SECURITY CONTROL
Upon entering, Users are required to Log – In or scan their barcode in the Attendance Counter before availing the library services.
Users of the Graduate School Library and Senior High School Library should deposit their bag at the Depository Area. Unclaimed things shall be turned over to the security personnel.
All patrons who leave the library must show their belongings for inspection by the Control Counter Staff.
