Transition to the Future provides individualized transition services in a combination of classroom and community-based environments for individuals with disabilities who are 18 to 21 years of ade and have met all of their graduation and testing requirements. Most students walk the stage with their cohorts and then come to the 18+ program. A student can only walk the stage once. The student will receive their diploma when they finish the 18+ program.
The goal of Transition to the Future is to provide an easy transition to life after school by providing multiple opportunities to learn and use the skills necessary to function as independently as possible. Transition to the Future covers a wide continuum of student needs and services to address and work collaboratively toward post-secondary outcomes. Students will participate in a variety of activities so that the last day of school is identical to the first day of the rest of their lives.
Based on the student's individual need we offer services and opportunities within the classroom, community, and employment preparation such as:
Daily Living Skills
Planning and cooking simple meals
Participation in student-run business models
Community safety and public transportation
Volunteer sites
Career exploration
Personal Goal Setting
Self-Advocacy
Participation is recreation and leisure activities
