Hey everyone! My name is Kaitlin Wollney. For the 2025-2026 school year, I will be the counselor assigned to students whose last names start with the letters M-Z. This is my tenth year here at Legacy Middle School as a school counselor. I am a proud class of 2007 graduate of East Central High School (Go Hornets!), and I graduated from UTSA in 2011 with my bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Science. I worked for five years in San Marcos CISD as a high school science teacher before earning my Master of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University in 2016 and joining ECISD that same year. I am so grateful to be a member of the East Central ISD family and community. When I'm not working, I'm outside taking care of the yard and garden or planning our next family vacation. My hobbies include reading, writing, journaling, swimming, and gardening while listening to podcasts about mysteries.Â
My approach to school counseling focuses on solution-focused brief therapy techniques. School counseling is not about providing long-term therapy or diagnosing students. Instead, we focus on barriers to student success both academically and socially within the school setting and we teach coping skills so that students are empowered to help themselves as they grow and mature. I make it my goal to meet regularly with students who have academic, attendance, or classroom behavioral concerns. If you have any questions, email or Talking Points is generally the best way to contact me.
