Hi! My name is Sharlene Neuls, and I am thrilled to be joining the Legacy Middle School family as the 6th Grade School Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year. This year marks the beginning of my 5th year as a School Counselor, and I am honored to support our students as they begin their middle school journey. I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to make this a successful and memorable year for our newest Knights.
I was born in San Antonio and raised in Converse, Texas. After graduating from Judson High School, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Education in School Counseling, and Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Go Runners!
Before becoming a Professional School Counselor, I enjoyed five years supporting children and families in foster and adoptive care. I then spent seven years teaching middle school English Language Arts, where I developed a passion for supporting students during one of the most important stages of their academic and personal growth. Those experiences have given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that middle school students face.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son. You'll often find us at a basketball court or football field cheering on our favorite player (our son!) or enjoying family time together.
My counseling approach is grounded in Solution-Focused Brief Counseling, which focuses on identifying students’ strengths, building resilience, and helping them develop strategies to overcome challenges. School counseling provides short-term, goal-oriented support to help students navigate challenges and develop skills that support their academic, social, and emotional growth. One of my favorite parts of being a school counselor is building relationships with students and supporting them through their school journey.I believe students are most successful when families and schools work together. If you have questions, concerns, please feel free to reach out. Email or TalkingPoints are the best ways to contact me. I look forward to partnering with you this school year!
