The goal of the Ellwood City Area School District is to provide transitional support for special education students beginning at age 14 until graduation. By including parents, students, teachers, counselors, and outside agencies in IEP meetings, students are given a voice to help determine future goals, and planning for post - secondary education. It is our job to offer educational support, but also provide transition support to a child to meet their future needs. We focus on three transition areas: post - secondary education, employment, and independent living within the general and special education curriculum, transition class and services, and community based education. There are many transition opportunities and options available to a student and they will be discussed at the IEP meeting to determine the best path for each child.
