Please enjoy the NEW Tomahawk Battalion Webpage.
Saturday 18SEP21 was an amazing day for several Tomahawk Battalion Cadets that attended a Community Service project in Laplace, LA. These Cadets displayed tremendous Selfless Service and Honor by participating in a remediation project. These leaders worked at the Celebration Church River Parishes Campus Children's Center to clear out the massive amounts of Hurricane Ida damage. The people in Laplace, like other parts of south Louisiana, are going to be in a recovery process for a very long time; for many this reminds them of Hurricane Katrina 15 years ago. The Cadets brought great pride to their Battalion, School and Army JROTC Cadets worldwide. They worked nonstop, except for water breaks and fresh air, to do this project over 6 hours. They truly brought joy to others working at the project and were thanked over and over again for their Selfless Service. Attached are just a few photos of their amazing work.

School Year 2021-22 Welcome Letter:
01 August 2021
JROTC Parents and Guardians:
As we start the 2021-22 School Year, it is our privilege to be a part of Istrouma High School. We know the value of training and developing young men and women through years of experience in the Army, community, and at Istrouma. Our mission is to motivate and train young people to become better citizens in all walks of life and help prepare them for success. Through the JROTC leadership program, students will grow and develop into more competent and confident leaders with effective communication and team skills, which will serve them well in any career field they choose.
As students learn about citizenship, we will have opportunities to serve others, our school, and community. Through events, such as color guard & drill team, robotics & archery, and participating in ceremonies, JROTC students will show pride in our community, school, and themselves. We also understand they must find the right balance between academics, extra-curricular activities and personal and family commitments. We also understand they have transportation needs, so your involvement and consent is also necessary to participate in events outside of school hours.
Fees: There is a $20 fee required for JROTC, which pays for your student’s unit T-shirt. Must be paid by 01 September 2021. Instructions will be provided to students at a later date.
Clubs and after-school activities. We will normally have air rifle practice on Mondays and color guard practice on Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00 pm. We will conduct color guard duties for select school events such as football games, basketball games, graduation, PTAs and some special events such as college, City of Baton Rouge, and Veterans’ Day events. All students will have the opportunity to train drill and ceremony, and if they are proficient, they will be allowed to conduct color guards at IHS; those who demonstrate a very high level of expertise will conduct high visibility events.
Below are some of the major key events planned for the first semester. This information will be updated as changes occur.
Patriot's Day Celebration
Veterans' Day Celebration
Homecoming events
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of your students' growth and development! We look forward to meeting you at our orientation, Open House, parent-teacher opportunities, field trips, and other events. Please remember that without your support we cannot grow, we need you to be involved as we mold your children and develop our program.
