On 11 March 2021, the Tomahawk Battalion sent our first representative to the EBRPSS JROTC Cadet of the Year (COY) Board. Each JRTOC or LET (Leadership, Education and Training) Level has a board throughout the academic year. Cadet Private Macy Beasley, our first representative, attended the LET I COY Board and represented the Tomahawks and Istrouma with great pride and distinction. Cadet Private Beasley was prepared and ready for the competition and went in ready to challenge herself. Although she came up short, she learned great lessons about leadership, self discipline, competition, and sportsmanship. We are very proud of her and the future is bright for her in JROTC.

Om 20 March 2021 the Tomahawk Battalion Color Guard competed in their first competition. Under the coaching of Chief White our team represented Istrouma with honor and distinction. The team was able to place second in the Flag Folding with Honors event and 3rd Place overall. We are proud of them and know they have so much more to prove. The team was commanded by C/SSG Pullins, L (rifle), C/SGT Hall, M (rifle), C/PFC Beasley, M (US Flag), and C/PVT Spears, D (Louisiana Flag).

2021 Community Service Learning Project
2021 Community Service Learning Project
On 24 March 2021 the Tomahawk Battalion hosted a blood drive with the Our Lady of the Lake Blood Bank. This project was designed to help replenish the blood stores that have been greatly depleted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Of the 189 potential donors at Istrouma High School, 40 gave blood for an amazing 21% donor rate. The event was a success and we hope to have more blood drives in the near future.
