Magnet Site Coordinator
My name is Kandi Thompkins, and I am the Magnet Site Coordinator at Glen Oaks Magnet High School. I am originally from Vivian, Louisiana and came to Baton Rouge to attend Southern University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. I attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biological Sciences and later received a Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree. My background and love of science are two of the reasons I pursued the Magnet Site Coordinator position at Glen Oaks Magnet High School. I look forward to helping students cultivate their love of medicine, health sciences, and radio and pursue employment or future education endeavors in their respective fields.

Biomedical Instructor
My name is Sherri N. Akerele, and I am the Biomedical instructor at Glen Oaks High School-Medical Magnet. I am originally from Springfield, Louisiana, and I moved to Baton Rouge to attend college. I am a two time graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU) with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences, Pre-Medicine and a Masters of Education with a Biology concentration. I am currently pursuing a MBA from LSU-S. I thorough enjoy teaching Biomedical Sciences as it marries both of my love for Science and Medicine into one rigorous curriculum.
Radio Broadcasting Instructor
My name is Adrian Augustus and I am the new Radio Broadcasting Instructor here at Glen Oaks Magnet High School for the 2020-2021 school year! I am a native of Baton Rouge. I hold an Associates in Entertainment Technology from Baton Rouge Community College, and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications from THEE Southern University A&M College. My goal for our Scholars in this program is to ensure that they develop their communication skills and that they can effectively apply them in their everyday lives. Scholars will also learn how to create quality audio work using current and evolving technologies while learning the production process for radio. I look forward to collaborating with you and our scholars to ensure that they are equipped with the skills necessary to become successful.
Medical Magnet Instructor
My name is Danette G. Holmes, BSN, RN. I am the RN Coordinator at Glen Oaks Magnet High School. I teach Certified Nursing Assistant and Emergency Medical Responder. I am a native of Baton Rouge. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. I have been nursing for 26 years. This is my 2nd year teaching. I thoroughly enjoy my position here. I enjoy teaching the students and watching them thrive and advance for their next chapter in life.

Medical Magnet Instructor
My Name is Roslen Terrance. I am a 2000 graduate of Southern University School of Nursing where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 18 years.This is my second-year teaching in the Medical Magnet Program at Glen Oaks Magnet High School. I teach Health Science I, Health Science 2, and Medical Terminology. I am also a certified CPR and Emergency Responder Instructor.

My name is Lenard Tillery III. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA where I attended Mckinley Senior High School and THE Southern University A&M College. I was a student athlete, a part of the Student Government Association and an active advocate for the community. After graduating from Southern University, I played professional football for three years before becoming a Teacher. Teaching and mentoring the kids are my passion and I'm excited to expand their mindsets daily!
