WEEKLY UPDATE
Hello everyone,
We’ve had a lovely week in Reception, and the children were thrilled to see the snow!
Our Christmas Nativity is getting closer, and the children are already working so hard. Each Reception child will have their own narration line in the performance, and we’ll be sending these home next week so you can practise them together at home. We’ve also started learning the songs, the link is attached below if your child would like to sing along to them at home—they’ve been very enthusiastic!
Next week in Maths, we’ll continue exploring the part–whole concept, and in Phonics, we’ll be learning to read consonant digraphs. Our experience tells us that these digraphs take a little longer to learn to read, so we will be learning a new digraph over two days to embed this new learning. For your information, you can see below what our digraphs will be next week.
For home learning, we are focusing on 'tricky' words. The children have been showing great progress in spotting the ‘tricky’ part of each word. This week’s challenge is to read the words automatically, without sounding them out.
Our focus words are: his, her, no, go, and to. If you’d like to upload any videos to Tapestry, we’d love to see them—the children love to share them with the Team!
A few important reminders:
Our Christmas rehearsals are now taking place in the hall, so Wednesday PE sessions are paused until January. Children won’t need their PE kits on Wednesdays until after the holidays.
Reading books will now be changed on Wednesdays. Please make sure book bags come to school every day.
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for Open Doors this afternoon. It was wonderful to have you with us, and we truly appreciate your continued support.
Wishing you all a relaxing and happy weekend!
