Team DERWENT & dOVE & Foss (YEAR 3 & Year 4)

Good afternoon, 

This week it was lovely to get chance to explore some of the Arts in our Learn Through Week! We read a poem in Guided Reading and we looked at a scene from Toy Story to write a narrative in English. We created some artwork inspired by Banksy, we became architects to design our dream homes and we tried our hand at stop animation! What a busy week! The children will definitely be ready for a half term break! 

Creative Curriculum: We will start our final History unit of the year! This unit is called ‘Who were the Mayans?’ In the first lesson we will get an idea of where in history the Mayan civilization sits. 

English: We will continue with our Toy Story narrative and will have a go at a big write of this scene which we will then edit before planning a similar scene for our independent write the week after! 

Maths: We will starting a unit looking at fractions greater than 1. 

PE Year 3 & 4: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).  

PSHE Year 3:  We will be starting our relationships unit where we will look at knowing and identifying the roles and responsibilities of each member of my family and to know that gender stereotypes can sometimes be unfair.  

PSHE Year 4: We will be starting our relationships unit where we will look at knowing and identifying someone I love and expressing why they are special to me. 

There will be no homework set this week as we want the children to be able to rest and recharge over the half term break!
