Reception (Nidd & Swale)

WEEKLY UPDATE

Hello everyone,

Christmas has arrived at Team Swale and Team Nidd. All the children are very excited and have loved telling their Team about their Christmas traditions at home. ✨

Please take a look at the information below about our upcoming performances this week

⭐ Christmas Nativity Performance ⭐

Our Nativity performances will be on Tuesday 9th December at  9.30am and Wednesday 10th December 2pm.
This year, the Reception children will be narrating our Christmas story, and each class will take to the stage to sing a special song.

✨ Team Nidd will be stars
👼 Team Swale will be angels

Please send your child to school in their usual school bottoms and a plain white T-shirt on the performance days. We will be making the rest of their costume at school to make them look performance-ready! If anyone is able to donate some gold or silver tinsel to help us make the costumes this would be greatly appreciated! 🌟 

Your child’s lines have been sent home in their book bags. If you have any questions please just speak to a member of staff—we’re always happy to help. 😊

🎅 Reading Elves 

Our very special visitors are having a blast with their sleepovers and sharing their Christmas story. Every evening, two children  get to take a Reading Elf home, along with a cosy Christmas story to share with their family.

We would be delighted to see the magical adventures you have together, so please feel free to upload any photos to Tapestry for us to share with the team.

Please remember, our elves only stay for one night. They must be returned to school the very next morning so they can fly off to visit the next child—and so every child gets their special turn before Christmas.

📚 Learning Next Week

Next week in phonics we will be recapping all our learning from this half term. 

In maths, we will be learning about an AB Pattern. An AB pattern is a repeating sequence that alternates between two things.
‘A’ stands for the first item, and ‘B’ stands for the second item.
For example: red, blue, red, blue, red, blue.
Red is the A, blue is the B. The pattern keeps repeating: AB, AB, AB.

Another christmas example will be Santa, tree, santa, tree etc

The children will be asked to copy AB patterns, continue an AB pattern and spot the mistake within a pattern. 

A Few Important Reminders

• Our Wednesday PE sessions are paused until January. No PE kits are needed on Wednesdays until after the holidays.
  
  

• Reading books will now be changed on Wednesdays. Please make sure book bags come to school every day.
