WEEKLY UPDATE
Hello everyone,
We’ve had a busy week and the children have really impressed us with how hard they continue to work! We have started our rehearsals for the Christmas play, and there’s definitely lots of festive excitement in the air. ✨
Please take a look at the information below about our upcoming performances.
⭐ Christmas Nativity Performance ⭐
Our Nativity performances will be on Tuesday 9th December at 9.30am and Wednesday 10th December 2pm.
This year, the Reception children will be narrating our Christmas story, and each class will take to the stage to sing a special song.
✨ Team Nidd will be stars
👼 Team Swale will be angels
Please send your child to school in their usual school bottoms and a plain white T-shirt on the performance days. We will be making the rest of their costume at school to make them look performance-ready! If anyone is able to donate some gold or silver tinsel to help us make the costumes this would be greatly appreciated! 🌟
Your child’s lines have been sent home in their book bags. If you have any questions please just speak to a member of staff—we’re always happy to help. 😊
🎅 Reading Elves
Next week, to mark the start of our Christmas celebrations, we will be welcoming some very special visitors into Reception… our Reading Elves!
Each class will have two cheeky little elves who love stories and can’t wait to visit the children’s homes throughout December. Every evening, two children will get to take a Reading Elf home, along with a cosy Christmas story to share with their family.
We would be delighted to see the magical adventures you have together, so please feel free to upload any photos to Tapestry for us to share with the team.
Please remember, our elves only stay for one night. They must be returned to school the very next morning so they can fly off to visit the next child—and so every child gets their special turn before Christmas.
Thank you for helping us make this a magical experience for the children! ✨
📚 Learning Next Week
In phonics we will be learning to read some new consonant digraphs. As these can take a little longer to get the hang of, we’ll learn one new digraph over two days to really embed the learning.
If you have the Little Wandle flash cards and want to help your child at home it would be a great idea to focus on ch, sh and th this week.
Our tricky word focus words are:
she, he & of
A Few Important Reminders
Our Christmas rehearsals are now taking place in the hall, so Wednesday PE sessions are paused until January. No PE kits are needed on Wednesdays until after the holidays.
Reading books will now be changed on Wednesdays. Please make sure book bags come to school every day.
Thank you for your continued support!
