Good afternoon,
In our topic work, the children have been learning all about what plants need to grow. They have carefully followed instructions to plant sunflower seeds and are very excited to look after them. We are really looking forward to watching them grow over the coming weeks and talking about the changes we see.
In Maths, the children have been exploring size and measurement. They have been learning to compare length and height using vocabulary such as longer, shorter, longest, shortest, tall and tallest. We are excited to use these skills to measure and compare our sunflowers as they begin to grow.
In Phonics, the children have been practising blending longer words with up to five sounds, such as “crisp” and “squelch.” Please continue to support your child by reading with them at least three times a week and recording this in their reading record. We kindly ask that book bags are brought into school every day.
Warmer weather
As the weather becomes warmer, please ensure your child comes to school with a labelled sun hat. We recommend applying all-day sun cream before school. If you would like your child to reapply sun cream during the day, please send a labelled bottle which we will keep safely in the classroom. The children will be supported to reapply it before lunchtime.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Just a reminder
We are hoping to arrange a visit from ZooLab, after May half term for all Reception children. ZooLab are a company who provide interactive animal/ minibeast workshops for children. This will be linked to our topic next half term and will be a fantastic opportunity to enhance the children’s learning with a real-life experience. We are very grateful to FOSHA for donating half the cost to fund our visit and as a school we have also contributed to reduce the cost of the visit. We kindly ask for a contribution of £2.50 per child to allow the children to have this experience- this can be paid through Arbor. Please do speak to a member of the Team if you have any questions.
Have a lovely weekend!
