Good afternoon,
What a wonderful week we have had in Reception!
The children have been thoroughly enjoying our minibeast topic and have shown great enthusiasm for learning about the tiny creatures that share our world. We have loved reading Mad About Minibeasts, using the rhymes and stories to discover fascinating facts about different minibeasts.
During our Forest School sessions, the children became real explorers as they searched for minibeasts in their natural habitats. This sparked lots of curiosity and excitement, leading to some fantastic independent writing, drawing and creative artwork in the classroom.
In Maths, we have been learning about doubles. The children have been exploring what it means to double a number by using practical resources, counting objects and playing games. We have been encouraging the children to use mathematical vocabulary such as double, equal, same as and altogether as they explain their thinking.
We are all very excited for next week when ZooLab will be visiting us! The children will have the opportunity to meet a variety of minibeasts up close and learn even more about them. We are sure this exciting experience will inspire plenty of discussion, curiosity and independent writing.
Please see Tapestry for our home learning this week & tips on how you can help your child with their reading at home.
Reminder: PE will continue to take place every Friday morning with Coach Caitlin. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend and enjoy hearing about the children's minibeast adventures!
Best wishes,
The EYFS Team
