The children have been really animated around our new topic on the Victorians and the world of work. They were shocked that they were expected to go to work from the age of 5 and work from 5:30am-8pm!
Coming up next week:
On Tuesday we have our DT day focusing on electrical systems.
Horton Park Primary school are visiting Y5 and 6 on Thursday for the day as part of our school link.
English: Year 5 - We will be continuing to write our story based on the life of a victorian child really focusing on adverbial phrases, relative clauses and the use of subordinating conjunctions
Maths: Year 5 - the children will be looking at multiplying a mixed number by a fraction and then exploring fractions of a number.
Curriculum - The children will continue with their topic on ‘Is it always a wonderful world of work’ This week they will be learning about the industrial revolution and the impact of this in Victorian times and how it changed the world.
PSHE
This week we will be looking at knowing what boundaries are appropriate in friendships with peers and others both on and offline.
Homework:
Reading: the children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown up.
Spelling: the children need to complete at least 5 spelling games per week.
Maths: the children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
