Dear Families
What an incredible week we have had across the whole school.
Tiny Steps, Esk and Reception had an incredible sports day. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the little ones. Thank you to the staff for all their hard work and for putting on such a great afternoon. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces.
Matilda the Musical! Was absolutely incredible. Well done to all the children for the months of hard work, learning their lines and all of the songs. And a huge thank you to Ms Schofield, Miss Fawcett and Miss Smith for everything you have done, we simply could not do this without you! You have once again gone above and beyond to help the children put on such a great show.
Horton Park Primary School visited again yesterday. It is amazing to see every year, all our children for making them all feel so welcome, the children have developed some lovely bonds together and it is always such a special day when we come together.
Monday 30th June & Tuesday 1st July are transition days. You will have received a letter about this earlier this week to make you aware of your child's new class. Children are to be dropped off and collected from their new classes on Monday & Tuesday. We hope that all the children are looking forward to meeting their new team.
Have a lovely weekend, with very best wishes
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Children are not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Children are not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced to ensure that roads are clear before crossing.

What's Cooking?
Team Calder have been in Cook School this week. They have enjoyed making cupcakes in preparation for the annual School Summer Fayre. The children were able to use a range of cooking techniques, including measuring, weighing, mixing, beating, baking and had the opportunity to 'taste test' a cupcake at the end of the lesson.
Whilst working in Cook School, they learnt about the ingredients, particularly eggs, and how certain foods can provide certain nutrients and vitamins. They also learnt about seasonality and where some of our ingredients may have come from. All of the children worked really hard and their cakes looked amazing. We will be decorating them next week ready for the Fayre on Friday so please visit our stall.
I will continue to work with Team Calder next week so we can make more goodies for the Fayre.
Some children from Team Humber also re-visited Cook School this week to decorate the Victoria Sponge cakes they made last week. The cakes looked amazing and were enjoyed by all our Year 5 and 6 children and our visitors from Horton Park.

Dear parents and carers,
Many of our year 6 children have been undertaking Bikeability in school and many of our younger children have been asking about it and what they are doing. Many children have been telling me that they can already ride a bike! I have been telling them that it is about being safe when out on their bike. As many of our children will ride bikes out and about, I have shared a useful guide around teaching children cycle safety to children.
Warm regards
Mr Metcalfe
