WEEKLY UPDATE

Hello,

We’ve had a lovely week in Reception!

This week, the children were introduced to the word fiction. We’ve been learning all about traditional tales, including characters and settings, and have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children have been learning to retell the story using actions — ask them to show you at home!

In Maths, we’ve been focusing on the composition of 5. Using counters, the children explored the different ways we can make 5, using phrases such as “1 and 4 make 5” and “2 and 3 make 5”.

In Phonics, we have continued to learn a new digraph every two days. We are aiming for 100% of book bags in school and for all children to read at home three times this week, so everyone has the opportunity to have a turn on the reading wheel.
