Team calder & Loxley (year 5)

Good afternoon, 

Teams Loxley and Calder have both had another great week and have enjoyed starting their new learning on ancient Egypt.

Next week:

English: We will be  continuing writing a setting description based on the Egyptian pyramids.

Maths: We will be continuing our learning on decimals.

Curriculum: We will be continuing our topic on ancient Egypt and looking at human and physical features of modern day Egypt.

PSHE: We will be thinking about how to  face new challenges positively and how to set personal goals.

Science: We will be starting our new topic on light and looking at how light travels.

P.E is now every Tuesday and Friday. Children need to come dressed in PE kit for the whole day. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).  

Homework will be set this week.

If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.

Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. This needs to be recorded in their reading records.

Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed. 

Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.

Children are expected to access TTRockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
