Good afternoon,
It has been another lovely week in LKS2! The children have been writing setting descriptions in English, focusing on using adjectives and expanded noun phrases and have written some lovely paragraphs about a tropical beach setting! In Geography we used our map skills to identify different sized settlements and start to identify why they might be located in certain places by looking at the landforms nearby. In Science the children enjoyed starting to make fact files on their chromebooks about different types of rock and their properties (eg marble, slate, chalk).
Next week:
English: We are beginning to write setting descriptions. This week we will be including prepositions.
Creative curriculum: We will be focusing on the question ‘Why do people live in urban areas?’
Maths: We will be continuing our unit adding and subtracting across 10 and will be looking at subtracting.
PE Year 3: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PE Year 4: We go swimming on Wednesday. Children need to come to school in their uniform and bring their swimming kit in a bag. Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Friday. PSHE Year 3: To know how to identify positive things in my life and identify worries and how I could overcome them.
PSHE Year 4: To know how to identify positive things in my life and identify worries and how I could overcome them.
Homework will be set next Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. Please record this in their reading records.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
