Good afternoon,
WOW! What an incredible start we have all had to KS1.
The children have been brilliant and very enthusiastic about their learning which has been amazing to see.
REMINDERS:
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday
Our topic this half term is 'The Great Fire of London.' The children have already created a bank of questions that they would like to be answered throughout this topic.
In Maths, Year 1 are looking at subitising (the ability to instantly recognise the quantity of a small group of objects without counting) numbers to 10 and number formation. Next week we are learning all about our 'teen' numbers with a real focus on writing, recognising and counting them.
This week, Year 2 have been focusing on recapping addition and subtraction. Next week we are learning about place value to 100 including addition and subtraction.
In Writing, we are introducing the children to a new class book 'Toby and the Great Fire of London.' They will be diving into the beginning, middle and ending by sequencing the story.
HOMEWORK:
Your child/ren will bring home their reading books on Friday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Team KS1
