STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 29th November 2024
Dear Families,
Thank you to everyone for attending our Open Doors this week. It was wonderful to see so many of you and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing the learning that goes on in our school. The support and involvement of families is greatly appreciated by the teachers and staff.
I would also like to say a massive thank you to all the grown ups and children who attended our book fair. It was a huge success and we are very pleased to say the sale total for Scholastic Book Fair was £448.27. This is a fantastic amount and means that we have a grand total of Scholastic rewards to spend on new reading books for our children of £179.31 which will be allocated across the school. We still have one more day to go before it is collected so if you haven't done so already, please pop in on Monday morning after school drop off or pick up.
All the children are now busy practising for their Christmas performances and you will find links below to book your performance tickets. Tickets are free, however, any donations for the performances are always greatly appreciated and we will have buckets at the door.
Next Tuesday FOSHA are hosting the Christmas disco and on Thursday it is Christmas dinner day where we are inviting the children to wear a Christmas jumper (this is instead of their school jumper/cardigan). Please see further information below.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Dear parents and carers,
Next week we will be entering the month of December and Christmas is just around the corner! This is a time when attendance can take a slump, but we want to continue to encourage the children to come to school.
On Wednesday in our attendance assembly I shared information with the children around Come to School at Christmas!
We will continue to celebrate attendance, but with a festive twist!
Every day we will be giving out two selection boxes. Every child who is in school on time, will be entered into a raffle and two names will be drawn every day!
For every Team that has 97% attendance for the week, will be celebrating with a hot chocolate and a story.
And on the final week, every Team with 97% or above will celebrate with a Christmas disco!
Thank you
Steve Metcalfe
Attendance Lead
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
And please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.

Dear Parents and carers,
In keeping with our online theme, this week I am sharing information around WhatsApp. WhatsApp is another popular social media and messaging app and is popular amongst younger children. Many children are in group chats and we are aware that things can be shared that are not appropriate. We also have issues with WhatsApp (and other messaging apps) where children have been unkind to each other, which in turn impacts on them at school.
If your child has WhatsApp, please ensure that you are having open discussions with them about the risks alongside making sure that we think about what we are saying before we hit the "send" button!
Please see the attached poster with further information!
Warm regards
Steve Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Derwent have been in Cook School this week. They have been making butternut squash soup. The children were able to learn about butternut squash and also got the opportunity to look at other different types of squash. They have tried many new skills including peeling, cutting and grating. The children also learnt about safety in the kitchen and worked really hard. I do hope you all enjoyed the soup.
A couple of other children enjoyed a special session in Cook School making some Muffin Feeling Faces. They had the chance to experiment with lots of fruit and vegetables and created some wonderful faces. Well done!
I will finish working with Team Derwent next week and then Team Foss will be joining me in Cook School. I have something very Christmassy lined up for them!
