Good afternoon,
It has been a busy week in LKS2 this week and it has been really lovely to see so many of you in school at our Open Doors afternoons! The children really enjoyed getting to show you the learning they are proud of! In English, we had a final practice in our letters of complaint genre of writing before our independent writes next week! This week we wrote letters to fictional character ‘Brenda’ who had not made very choices on the estate! The children were very convincing and we’re sure Brenda will be a much better citizen in the community now! In Geography the children turned the empathy maps they made on our local area walk into digital maps on their chromebooks, including using symbols and keys - they did a great job! In Science, we looked at food chains and the children enjoyed creating their own food chain cup stack.
English: We will be starting our independent letters of complaint about the issues we have identified in the local area that we will try persuade Persimmon to fix.
Creative curriculum: We will be analysing and presenting the data we have collected from our survey that we sent to the other teams in school to answer the question ‘Does the rest of Team Staynor share our concerns?’.
Maths: In Maths we will be continuing to focus on different mental strategies for addition and subtraction, including looking at multi step problems.
Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Year 3 PSHE: We will be continuing our Dreams and Goals unit, this week we will be focussing on a new challenge.
Year 4 PSHE: We will be continuing our Dreams and Goals unit, this week we will be focussing on overcoming disappointment.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
