Hello! My name is Mrs. Sirena Werst, and I am an Autistic Support Teacher at Wescosville Elementary!
Education. My interest in working with individuals with Autism began as I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in English, at Temple University. In 2018, I completed a M.Ed. at Lehigh University in Special Education with a dual certification in Special Education PreK-8th and General Education PreK-4th.
I am currently enrolled in a post graduate program at Lehigh University in Applied Behavior Analysis and supervised by our district BCBA. It is my goal to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I strive to be a resource for my colleagues in the area of Positive Behavior Supports, Applied Behavior Analysis, Functional Behavior Assessment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Interventions, and Skinner's Verbal Behavior.
Experience. I have worked as a therapist, an assistant in a preschool, tutored, taught summer programs, and taught for 3 years in a private ABA school for children with Autism. I have been at Wescosville as an Instructional Assistant, and student taught in Mrs. Mattocks’ classroom! This is my 9th year teaching at WES in Autistic Support and I am so happy to be a part of such a fantastic team!
Family and Me. I was born and raised in Upper Perk. My Husband, Ryan, and recently purchased a home in Macungie! Most of our summer was spent renovating and remodeling but we totally loved it. We enjoy many adventures with our 6 year old son, Arthur, and our 4 year old daughter, Sylvia!
A home is not a home without a rescue. We have two rescued dogs, Indie and Edgar, and a Bearded Dragon named Bruno whom we also adopted. I also enjoy reading, biking, snowboarding, dog training, swimming, Volkswagens, Water Polo, Disc Golf, Camping, bartending, and hiking.
