Welcome to second grade! I am excited to begin my sixteenth year teaching in the East Penn School District and my eleventh year in Second Grade at Shoemaker. Previously, I taught Kindergarten at Shoemaker and both Kindergarten and Second Grade at Wescosville Elementary. A product of the East Penn School District, I am happy to return!
After graduating from Emmaus High School, I spent the next four years at Penn State University Park. At PSU, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. GO State! Since graduating from PSU, I have earned two Master's Degrees – one in Special Education and the other in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University. I also completed my certification in Curriculum and Instruction at Kutztown University.
This summer I spent time at home with my husband (Ryan), son (Enzo) and daughter (Zuri). Enzo will be five this fall and Zuri just celebrated her fourth birthday. Enzo loves playing soccer, playing trucks and digging in the dirt. Zuri loves anything pink, following her big brother around and snacking! We read together everyday - their favorite books right now are Fancy Nancy and Franklin.
Every Saturday, I watch the Nittany Lions and will forever bleed blue and white! I am a Philly “Phallower.” During my free time, I enjoy being outside, traveling to new places and spending time with my husband, son, daughter, family and friends. My favorite animal is a monkey. My favorite color is pink. And if I could, I would eat cupcakes and tacos everyday!
I love my job and am looking forward to an awesome year together!
Hi! My name is Mrs. Schneck. This is my 18th year teaching. I have taught both First and Second Grade here at Shoemaker. I graduated from Lycoming College with a degree in Psychology and an Elementary Certification. I have received my Master's Degree in Educational Strategies and Development through Wilkes University.
My husband Trevor and I have 5 beautiful and energetic children. Peyton-14, Brady-12, Landry-10, Witten-6, and Walker-4.
We are a very active family. We love to take walks together, whether it's to the playground or our favorite ice cream places. I love sports, especially softball, wrestling, and football. Some of my favorite things: Dolphins, the color baby blue, Wawa, Amazon (they have everything), Target, Hobby Lobby, and Texas Roadhouse.
I can't wait to learn about all of your favorite things!
Welcome! My name is Ms. Heather Arnold. I am proud to say that I will spending my 25th year (2024-2025) as a school teacher teaching 2nd grade here at Shoemaker. (21st year in East Penn) I am looking forward to being your child's gardener and watching their minds grow!
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a school teacher. I chose to pursue this career by attending the University of Michigan. I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree and I was very lucky to land my first job that September. I taught first grade for four years at Eurekadale Elementary School in Taylor, Michigan.
After I had my beautiful son Ian, I chose to move back here to my hometown in 2001. I was hired by the district in 2002 as a long term substitute for a teacher at Macungie Elementary. In 2003, I was blessed and given a full time contract. I started at Macungie as a first grade teacher. I was there for four years before I moved to my home school of Shoemaker Elementary. I taught first grade for three more years before I decided to try my hand at a new grade level; 3rd grade! I taught in Room 31 for three years and loved every moment of it!
While at Macungie, I went back to school to pursue my Masters Degree in Technology from Wilkes University. My love of reading and my passion for teaching children to read led me to pursue my career even further by gaining my Reading Certification from Cabrini College.
My son's name is Ian. He is 23 years old. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree at Georgia Tech.
When I am not teaching, I like to spend my down time going boxing, cooking healthy new meals, and reading sappy novels.
Besides being with my family, teaching is my passion. I look forward to coming to school every day because each day is an adventure. I learn so much from the students in my room, and I only hope that each day I walk out the door to go home, that I made a difference in the life of a child.
Welcome back 2nd Graders!
My name is Mrs. Plachko and I am so excited to be your teacher this year. This will be my second year as a Shoemaker Mustang and I already know this year will be great! I have so many fun activities planned for us to explore. We are going to learn so many new things from one another.
I am a graduate from Emmaus High School and love to bring that Hornet Pride into my classroom. I am also a proud alumni of Bloomsburg University where I ran competitively for D2 Cross Country and Track. This is where I met my husband. We have been together for 9 years. We have three little fur babies, Oakley, Oliver, and Koda. We love to hunt and hike with our pups all the time.
I always love to connect with my younger students ever since I've been an older sibling. I have a 19 year old sister who will be at St. Jose in the fall and a 12 year old sister who will be in 7th grade at St. Thomas More!
Some fun facts about me are that I LOVE Disney and have even completed 2 half marathons with my cousin racing through the Disney Parks. I also love playing music in my classroom and making learning as fun as possible, which means we will be dancing at our desks and will also do some yoga! I will try to get out to recess with my class at least once a week to play some basketball or challenge you to a race.
I am counting down the days until I see you on that first day of school! Wahoo!!!
