Science

This year students will be introduced to Science as a subject.  Several Science standards will be assessed on your child's report card.  In Science, we will learn the scientific method and apply it throughout the entire science curriculum.   The FOSS program emphasizes life, earth and physical science and the following topics will be covered.

Life Science

• Insects and Plants

  • How and why do organisms interact with their environment and what are the effects of these interactions?

  • How can there be so many similarities among organisms yet so many different kinds of plants, animals, and microorganisms?

Physical Science

• Solids and Liquids

  • How can one explain the structure, properties, and interactions of matter?

Earth Science

• Pebbles, Sand and Silt

  • How and why is Earth constantly changing?

  • How do Earth’s processes and human activities affect each other?
