This unit is filled with hands-on experiences with bugs, worms, fish, and snails. We will see how milkweed bugs change over time and create successful habitats for them to live in our classroom. We will see how worms change the rate of decomposition and build terrariums to study ecosystems. We will be analyzing food webs and looking at the human impact on our environments.
Roller coasters anyone? This is an introductory course to physics. We will learn how to calculate the speed, acceleration, and momentum of a roller coaster. We will also spend some time investigating Newton's 3 Laws of Motion building ziplines. If you love math, this unit is for you!
We will end the year with geology. After studying the plate tectonic theory and continental drift we will investigate the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes. Using google earth we will investigate volcanoes around the world and work together in teams to build a tsunami safe village.
