Homework is to practice and improve what students are learning in school. In third grade, I want the students to focus on reading comprehension and being critical mathematicians. Homework needs to support this goal. A homework sheet/packet will go home on Mondays and should be returned to the teacher on Fridays with parent initials.
Every night during the school week students will:
1. Read for 15 minutes- this can be silently with a book at their reading level, aloud with a family member or friend, or as a listener with a family member or friend.
2. Practice math facts for 5 minutes- the more you practice the better you'll be. High fluency of addition and subtraction facts will help each student being stronger math thinkers and become faster with multiplication and division. Flash cards or online practice can be used.
3. Read over the ELA words/trick words for that particular week
Sometimes your child may have homework specific to their needs.
