Students are expected to be prepared for class EVERYDAY!
The following materials should be brought to class everyday:
Ready Classroom Work text
2 pocket math folder
charged Chromebook
ear buds / headphones (no wireless)
completed math practice
PENCIL (pen is not permitted)
silent reading book
Students need sharpened pencils BEFORE class begins.
Students should use the bathroom before or after class, not during direct instruction time (unless it is a true emergency).
Students need to pay attention in class & avoid chatting with other students sitting nearby.
Be organized!
Students are expected to participate in class. This includes working with peers in groups.
Don’t be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS!
(Extra help will be available during 9th periods and lunch – all you need to do is ask for it).
Practicing math independently is important and valuable because it is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students to develop positive study habits.
Independent practice can be completed during class (if time allows), 9th period, or at home.
Students are expected to do their best on all assignments and complete it neatly.
Students are expected to show all work, even if using a calculator.
Avoid leaving problems blank. There needs to be evidence of effort, especially with challenging problems. It is better to attempt a problem and get it wrong than to not attempt the problem at all. Assignments will be reviewed during class.
Students should be working independently
Students must LISTEN to lessons.
Students should be attentive to the task at hand
Students should show work in a math journal.
The goal is to pass at least TWO lessons each week. (The week starts on a Monday and runs through Sunday)
Students should fully complete iReady journal pages.
Students are not permitted to use calculators unless it's provided within the specific iReady lesson.
The quarter grade will be based on the following:
75% - Lesson Quizzes
10% - Graded Assignments
SOS (see below)
5% - iReady
5% - Classwork
Exit Tickets
Reflections
2.5% - EdPuzzle
2.5% - Ontime work completion
SOS is a weekly graded assignment that will help reinforce skills previously learned in the classroom. Students may use any of their resources to help them complete this assignment.
There are NO retests
ALL students have the opportunity to earn points back on tests and quizzes by filling out a Test Corrections Sheet. Directions can be found at the top of the Test Corrections Sheet.
