Coincidentally enough, I started out my collegiate education as a Bulldog! Who knew I would end up working as an Eyer Bulldog?
Go Eyer Bulldogs!
I graduated from DeSales University (DSU) in May of 2013 with my Bachleor's Degree in the Science of Nursing. During my studies at DSU, I discovered my passion of nursing involved community and public health. While involved in my studies, I had the opportunity to intern with an organization known as, "Bridging the Gaps" (BTG). BTG offered a unique opportunity linking the training of health and social service professionals with the provision of health-related services for the undeserved and economically disadvantaged populations. I had the pleasure with collaborating with individuals across PA, Delaware, and NJ. During my internship I was placed to aid at the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown and Lehigh Valley Health Network, 17th and Chew Street. There I had the privilege to provide preventative health education and promotion, while assisting the facilities in various activities.
After graduation, I practiced as a RN at St. Luke's Hospital on an Orthopedic, Neuroscience, Trauma Step-Down Unit. I learned a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed caring for my patients but, I still yearned to practice in a community/ public health setting. Before I knew it, I started working for a pediatric home care agency and specialized in Trach and Ventilator care and a few months later, I was hired at EPSD as a Health Room Nurse at Shoemaker Elementary.
Shoemaker Elementary School is where I learned I loved School Health. So, I went back to school and earned my Certification in School Health at Cedar Crest College. I began my journey as a Certified School Nurse in 2016 and have been a proud Eyer Bulldog since! In my free time and during the summer, I still care for my clients in the home care setting. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in the Science of Nursing specializing in Nurse Leadership: Education, at Wilmington University.
