About Us
The Emmaus Bands are made up of ensembles at Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA. Bands include Symphonic Band and Jazz Band offered as classes during the school day and The Green Hornet Marching Band which meets after school as an extra-curricular activity.
About the Director:
Mr. Spencer Koppenol
Mr. Koppenol came to Emmaus High School from Salisbury, MD, where he had completed a successful tenure at Parkside High School. In his time at Parkside High, he led the Marching Rams to be USBands Group 3A National Champions. He has grown the jazz program to the point that in the spring of 2024, they had to run 2 jazz bands. Koppenol has also directed the honors symphonic band through multiple superior performances at festivals in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Koppenol also taught Color Guard, AP Music Theory, Intermediate Band, and helped develop and teach class Piano. Outside of Parkside, Mr. Koppenol also performed on the Tuba and Euphonium with local groups, including the Salisbury University Pops Band and the Salisbury Community Band.
Before Salisbury, Mr. Koppenol was a member of the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2018 and 2020. He was a conducting intern with the Reading Philharmonic and a member of the Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble. Mr. Koppenol has also continued teaching marching band at Kutztown University.
