Joining Marching Band

1. When does Marching Band start?

IN THE SPRING: the Marching Band rehearses Monday nights in April and May from 6-8 PM. 

The full Marching Band calendar can be found on the schedule page. The Summer and Fall schedules differ from the Spring schedule, so please look ahead. 

2. How do I join Marching Band?

Anyone who wants to join the Marching Band should come to at least one Marching Band rehearsal during April or May. We will have a sign up day the first rehearsal of June. The two June rehearsals are MANDATORY to join. We HIGHLY encourage students to come to as many rehearsals as they can in April and May to make sure they like doing Marching Band when they sign up and so they are ahead before with music and marching before we are full swing in July.

3. Start Dates

Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion: Will start within the first weeks of April. Check the google calendar for the most accurate dates. 

Color Guard: Because of the indoor color guard season, color guard will not start until the beginning of May, and then they will follow the band schedule. Watch the google calendar for the most accurate start dates.

4. What if I have conflicts with my middle school sports or band?

Middle School activities still come first while you are in middle school! Email Mr. Koppenol at skoppenol@eastpennsd.org if you have any conflicts with the Marching Band schedule.

5. Do I have to attend the summer rehearsals?

Yes, although a lot of us take vacations over the summer you need to come to every rehearsal you are available. Any conflicts should be emailed to Mr. Koppenol.

6. How does Band Camp work?

Every student that wants to participate in Marching Band MUST attend band camp during the first full week of August. Band camp is where we get the majority of our field show learned on the field. Missing individuals make it very difficult to learn our spots on the field.
