Snow and Ice, while being fun to play in, throws a wrench into the ensemble and lesson schedules. When winter weather strikes, the guidelines for music students to follow regarding lessons and ensemble are listed below. A day off school does not mean that the kids get a week break from practicing! With missed practice time, students actually regress and come into lessons falling behind their classmates. Encourage your child to practice on snow days, especially when they are running around the house saying how bored they are!
Lesson Information
Flexible Instruction Day(FID) : Please see your child's Seesaw for the lesson schedule and instructions. Details will vary by building and teacher.
2 Hour Delay: All students scheduled for lessons on that day should bring their instrument, even if their scheduled lesson time is in the morning. Mrs. Sarro, Mr. Williams, & Mrs. Cooke will do everything possible to reschedule lessons so that students are able to still have their lessons. It won't always work out, but we will always make the attempt.
Early Dismissal (scheduled or weather related) : All students should plan on having a lesson on early dismissal days . Mrs. Sarro, Mr. Williams, & Mrs. Cooke will attempt to reschedule lessons if possible. If the early dismissal is weather related, it's more difficult to reschedule depending on when we are notified of the early dismissal. We will make an attempt to schedule an appropriate lesson for everyone if possible.
School Closed (unscheduled/weather Related): If students have off of school on their normal lesson day, their lesson will be canceled too, students will meet the following week. Teachers may post additional resources on Seesaw to keep students engaged for the extra week between classes.
School Closed (scheduled holidays): If students have off of school on their next lesson day, their lesson will be bumped to the next in session school day following the day cycle. Over an extended break, please have your children continue to practice, even if they've met their 100 minutes of practice. Allowing students to miss extended time without practice, will allow them to forget important material.
