As we kick off the second semester, we wanted to take this month as a chance to reflect on making it half way through a very challenging year. We hope that as you are starting what for some of you will be your last semester of high school, you take a moment to be kind to yourself and reflect on the many difficult things you've accomplished this year. In recognition of the half way point, we are using this month as a chance to remind you all of some resources you can consider for supporting your own mental health or the mental health of those you care for. Many of these were featured in our September site. Stay well, and be kind to yourself and one another.
The JED Foundation's mental health resource center, which provides supports for teens and young adults worried about themselves or a friend. Some of their resources include supports or suggestions for helping with depression, disordered eating, or substance abuse.
Love is Louder, which is a website with a strong social presence focused on providing tips for coping with COVID-19 and other traumatic current events, including mindfulness resources and virtual concerts.
Seize the Awkward, which provides tips for difficult conversations about mental health with loved ones and tips for staying connected during social distancing
NAMI, which has tips for helping yourself or a friend, as well as the 10 common warning signs for mental health concerns.Â
The Trevor Project, which has supports specific to the LGBTQ+ community.
The Crisis Text Line, a resource for people of all ages in crisis to connect with a professional at any time.
Psychology Today: Find a Therapist : Psychology Today offers a user-friendly platform for finding mental health professionals that meet your needs. You can utilize filters to sort by providers that accept your insurance (including Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP). This can be a helpful place to start to find mental health services.
