I graduated from Rowan University with a degree in English and certification for Education, grades K-12. My first job was in East Orange, teaching at John L. Costley Middle School. This school "looped" grades, and I had the privilege of teaching grades 6-8. After our years at Costley, I took the leap and transitioned to Campus High School. There, I taught 9th and 10th grade English to students of all grade levels. I enjoyed my time working with high school students, but ultimatley decided to return to the middle school setting. I taught 7th grade English at Healy Middle School prior to working at STEM Academy. In 2020, I graduated from Montclair University with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. Attaining my Master's Degree was something I wanted to complete for a long time and feel grateful to have done so.
No matter what school I was in, the Language Arts and English teachers are the highest-quality educators there. Working with such talented people, I learned a tremendous amount in areas of instruction, content, and pedagogy. I truly that what I learned from that has shaped me into being the educator I am today. Not only my collegues, but the administrators I've worked for have had a profound effect on my career. My administrators had very high expectations of their staff, and pushed teachers to the very best of their abilities. I learned so much from these educators, which have now become my mentors.
My goal is to share these practices, along with current research, to other educators, which is why I decided to pursue coaching. This is a new challenge for me, but one I am ready to embark on with the guidance of my incredible mentors, who also work in East Orange.
