Birchland Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope this letter finds you rested, rejuvenated, and ready for another year of growth, learning, and success. Whether you are new to our school community or returning for another year, we are excited to partner with you in making this school year one of meaningful learning and memorable experiences.
We have been working hard this summer to get the building in tip-top shape, create welcoming classroom environments, and plan programs that support both academic achievement and social-emotional development. At Birchland, we believe that every student can thrive when supported by strong relationships, high expectations, and a safe, inclusive learning environment. That’s exactly what we’re committed to providing each and every day.
This year, we are especially excited to introduce some new members to our Birchland teaching staff. Mr. Tom Walsh will be taking over in our Technology/Engineering classroom, Mr. T.J. Howell will be taking on 6th grade ELA, and Ms. Stacia Diaz will be joining us as a reading teacher. We’re thrilled about what they will bring to our Birchland community! Our robust offering of after school activities will be getting underway shortly into the new year, so we hope that your student will sign up to participate in some fun and enriching experiences for when the school day is over. As always, we also remain focused on fostering a strong sense of belonging and community—both in and out of the classroom.
Please be sure to stay connected through our school website (birchlandpark.com), the weekly Weekend Update (sent home every Friday during the year), as well as checking your email and Powerschool for updates and important information. We also encourage you to attend Open House Night on Wednesday, October 1st, where you’ll have the chance to meet our teachers and learn more about your child’s schedule and curriculum. There will be more information about this night shared after the school year gets underway.
Enclosed with this letter, you will find the highly anticipated team assignment for the upcoming year, a welcome letter from their team of teachers, and a list of recommended supplies. Students are very keen to learn what their team assignment will be for the new school year, but reassure them that even if they are not with all of their friends from last year in all of their classes, they will still have opportunities to see those friends at lunch, specials, and in our after school activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to build new friendships and extend their network of support! Your child’s Advisory assignment is also included on the sticker in this envelope. This is the room where they will report to begin each school day. Don’t worry about not being able to find it on Day One; we will have plenty of staff on hand to help!
Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will look forward to seeing everyone on August 27th. As always, your partnership is essential to student success. Let’s work together to support our students as they learn, lead, and grow. Welcome back!
Warmly,
Steve Pearson
