These instructions assume you have a marc file of bibliographic records of your EAST retentions. See also Exporting Retentions From Your ILS for instructions on creating that file from your ILS/LSP, and/or instructions on setting up scheduled exports. These instructions are adapted from the Colorado Alliance's instructions for adding MARC records to Gold Rush (also linked from the Gold Rush FAQ Library Content Comparison System page).
Step 1 - Obtain an STFP login to Gold Rush if you don't already have one:
Before uploading, you will need an SFTP login, and the Colorado Alliance will need to open their firewall to the outward facing IP address of the machine from which you will be sending the records. If you are sending directly from ALMA the firewall is already open. If you need a login or are having difficulty connecting, contact info@eastlibraries.org for assistance, and include your outward facing IP address (which can be found by visiting whatsmyip.com).
Step 2 - Connect to horus.coalliance.org
Using the sftp program of your choice, e.g. Fetch or WinSCP, connect via sftp to horus.coalliance.org (port 22)
Step 3 - Make sure you are in the /UPLOADS/full directory
Navigate to the /UPLOADS/full directory. Deposited files should contain ALL of your EAST retentions, and will replace the data currently on the system.
Step 4 - Transfer the file(s)
Upload/transfer the marc file(s). Multiple files are fine, and should have a .marc, .mrc, .out or _new suffix. Also acceptable are files that have been compressed with *.tar, *.gz or *.zip formats as long as the compressed files have one of the aforementioned suffixes (.mrc, .marc, .out or _new)
Once files have been transferred they will be staged for indexing, which occurs monthly, usually beginning during the first week of the month and completing by the third week of the month. It can take up to 6 weeks to see your new records in Gold Rush.
