When you launch Chrome, it should ask you at the top if you want to set it as the default browser. Select "Set Default" to make Chrome your default browser
You can also set it as the default browser by doing the following
Click on the windows icon and type in "Default apps" and click on that link to open the settings
Scroll down to Google Chrome and select it
In the top right corner, select "Set default"
Signing into Chrome allows you save the way you have configured Chrome onto Google's servers. This means that anywhere you log into Chrome, you will have access to your Bookmarks, Apps, Extensions, etc You will no longer have to worry about not having your Bookmarks with you.
To Signe into Chrome:
Click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand of Chrome
Select Settings
The first item in Settings will be a button to "Sign into Chrome"
Click that button and sign into your Google account.
Next, you will want to decide what is synced in Chrome. To do this:
Click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand of Chrome
Select Settings
Under your login name you can select what to sync.
Click on "Sync" to bring up the menu and select what you want to sync.
When logging into a public place, make sure to later go back and to this setting page and select the "SIGN OUT". This way other people will not have access to your settings. You should also sign out of Gmail as well when in a public location.
Showing the bookmark bar displays your bookmarks for quick and easy access.
You might first need to display the bookmark bar by doing the following.
In Chrome, click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner.
Select Bookmarks/show bookmark bar
You will want to bookmark sites that you use frequently so you can have quick access to them.
To bookmark a site do the following.
In Chrome, visit the site you want to bookmark
Click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner
Select Bookmarks/Bookmark this page
You can give the bookmark a name that will be useful to you. Also, make sure that it is saved in the folder for Bookmark Bar.
You can set Chrome to open up to specific tabs/pages when you launch Chrome. This can save you time by setting Chrome to automatically open to the sites you always have open. You might want to have Chrome automatically open to your email and Skyward. To do this follow these directions.
Open Chrome and open one tab to email.
Open another tab and navigate to the Skyward login page.
You can set which ever pages and how many pages you like. I am using email and Skyward as just an example.
Click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner of Chrome
Select Settings
In the settings menu under "On Startup" select the option "Open a specific page or set of pages. Set Pages
Click on the button "Use current pages" and then click okay.
Now when you open Chrome those pages will start automatically.
