WELCOME PACK - Code of Conduct

We have high expectations here at ESPA. It is expected that students will be committed to their training/studies to enable them to gain the most out of their time with us. ESPA has a 90% attendance target, and as such students are expected to ensure that they are in all classes and that they are punctual.

Many students want to continue working with their current theatre schools/dance schools/amateur dramatics whilst studying at ESPA, along with the want to work part-time. Whilst we do not ask that you refrain from external opportunities, you are expected to focus on your training whilst studying at ESPA, this must be the priority. We find that the students who are most successful during their ESPA journey are those who are fully invested and committed to the training that they are receiving. Students who take on too much outside of college and cannot apply themselves fully to their course are at risk of burn-out and not achieving to their full potential.

PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH THE FOLLOWING EXPECTATIONS BEFORE COMPLETING THE AGREEMENT FORM BELOW

All Subjects

Always arrive at classes and rehearsals on time and ready to work

Appropriate uniform must be worn at all times

Studios are spaces to work and you should be considerate to fellow students at all times

Keep the studio safe (remove obstacles and keep fire exits clear)

Keep the studio clean. At the end of the session all rubbish, props and chairs must be cleared away

Under no circumstances should food or drink be taken into or consumed in the studios (except water)

If you miss a class it is your responsibility to consult your peers and catch up on the work missed

You are expected to research, prepare and practice material in between classes and outside college hours
All work you complete for submission should be your own work. Use of AI is not acceptable

If you are unable to attend or complete any assessment you must apply for mitigating circumstances. You will need to supply supporting evidence for the reasons why you are unable to attend an assessment, such as a doctor’s certificate. If you fail to attend any assessment without prior written permission, you will have to retake the assessment and your mark will be capped . You will also put yourself at risk of being withdrawn from the course.

General Notes

Jewellery is strictly forbidden and must not be worn in class

Lanyards must be worn at all times when on the main college site (Drift Road Campus), and should be worn upon entering the ESPA building.

Chewing gum is not allowed anywhere on the college premises

Mobile phones are not permitted in classes other than where stated by tutors.

Piercings must be removed or covered with micro pore for all physical classes for health and safety reasons.

Food or drink must not be taken into studios (except water in plastic bottles). Food may only be consumed in the kitchen and common areas

Smoking in or within sight of any ESPA building is forbidden

The use of matches, lighters or other naked flames on academy premises is strictly forbidden

Nails must be kept short for safety reasons
