National Arab American Heritage Month is recognized by the Arab American Foundation and is a time for Arab Americans to celebrate their rich culture with tradition. Each year the Arab American Foundation hosts an event in Washington DC to honor the contributions made by Arab Americans to society and to the Arab American culture.
In 2021 Michigan democratic house representative Rashida Tlaib introduced a bill to the federal government to recognize the month of April as National Arab American Heritage Month. Even though that bill is still pending for the month to be celebrated federally, Joe Biden was the first US president to recognize the month of April as Arab American Heritage Month in 2021 which encouraged more schools, workplaces, and organizations in several states to start recognizing Arab American heritage.
There are many significant contributions that come from Arab Americans in the science, math, and humanities field. Those such as Nobel Prize winners Elias J. Corey, and Ahmed Zewail, pediatrician Mona Hanna and many more. To learn more about them check out this video
