Education

Bring the Earth inside your Classroom.

Today more than ever, every place in our world is connected to every other place. Many of the world’s toughest challenges will only be resolved through applied geospatial knowledge and universal awareness of our environment. Our Education program's mission is to leverage Google’s Geo tools to drive geo-literacy as a fundamental learning and life skill in global education.

Geo-literacy encompasses how a student understands interactions, interconnections and implications of human and natural systems, followed by applying that knowledge and reasoning to make decisions in the classroom and beyond; it trains students to systematically analyze outcomes based on priorities. Empowered with this type of thinking, students can start making informed decisions as simple as their chosen path to school and changing patterns of consumption, to thinking about precautions to take for natural hazards and the ripple effects of climate change.

At the Geo for Good India Workshop, the Education track will work on developing innovative lessons that connect Indian curriculum with Google technology, experience a design thinking session to work through some of the most difficult learning objectives, and help other participants and organizations understand how they can make their programs and resources more accessible to classroom environments.

We hope to inspire a new generation of global citizens to discover the world’s past, celebrate its present, and protect its future - the only way to accomplish this is by collaborating with passionate educators dedicated to transforming the way technology is applied in education. Please join the effort!
