Design and technology

In DT, we have started making our space themed cams moving toys. First we put our mechanism together making sure that everything moved the way we wanted it to. Then we painted the with our base colour. We will be working on the design element over the next few lessons. So check back to see what our final designs look like.

Space Art

In Art, we have been creating our own versions of a piece of art called 'Dreaming of Space' by Tracie Andrews. We started by looking at space, planets and galaxies and then tried to create a galaxy background using different techniques. It got a little bit messy but the results were amazing!

Greenwich Observatory Trip

To kick off our new Science topic all about Space, we visited the Greenwich observatory. We travel deep into our solar system during an intercative planetarium show and then learnt about the phases of the moon in a workshop with a real life astronomer! We also visited the Meridian Line and stood on the eastern and western hemispheres at the same time.

Page Green Regeneration Event

We helped with the regeneration of Page Green (the green area just outside our school). We helped to plant seeds and had a chance to meet and pet the horses which were helping to plough the land. It was really great to be part of improving our local area.

Natural History Museum Trip

As part of our work on Earthquakes in Geography, we took part in a special workshop at the Natural History Museum. We learnt about the causes of earthquakes and even experienced what an earthquake feels like in a simulation set up in the museum. We also got to have a look at the famous Blue Whale skeleton.
