Who: Open to all high school and gap year students
What: Learn the fundamentals of research: Question identification and literature review. Choose your own subject/research question. Develop critical thinking and writing skills through a comprehensive literature review project. Create an academic presentation for your findings. Gain broad exposure to the scientific process, regardless of your background.

Duke University Pre-college Summer Programs

Who: Duke Pre-College recommends that all students registering for a summer course have a current GPA of 3.5+. Some courses may also have prerequisites, which are listed in the course notes. On-Campus programs are open to all students, grades 6-11. Online courses are available for rising 9th-11th grade students.
What: Duke Pre-College offers an exciting range of summer programs designed to prepare middle and high school students for the next step in their academic journeys, all while fostering global connections and hands-on learning experiences. Students can gain college credits depending on the course.

Where: Online or at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
What: A pre-med program offering insights into medical careers, research, and clinical skills.
How: Apply online through the Harvard Student Agencies website. Submit transcripts, a personal statement, and a recommendation letter.
When: Dates vary according to chosen courses, but they are offered throughout the year.
Where: Online
Who: Courses are designed for high school or U.S.-high-school-equivalent students, including those who are taking a “gap year” between high school and college. Students should be 13 and up, not yet enrolled in college, and no more than 1 year post-high school graduation (“gap year”).
What: All of these courses are non-credit-bearing courses from Rice University designed specifically for high school students. Rice faculty design the course curricula and teach the courses in pre-recorded videos. Students earn a Certificate of Completion from Rice University for each course completed
How: Need-based scholarships are offered for participating students who exhibit high potential and an inability to pay the full tuition. The Weekly Surgery: Live Case Study Course

What: The Research Scholars Program offers students a deep dive into research methodologies, covering essential topics such as forming hypotheses, research writing formats, finding accurate sources, conducting primary experiments, literature review, and more. Over the course of eight weekends, students will develop their own thesis, produce a 1500-2000 word research report, and present their findings. The program covers diverse research areas, including STEM, Arts and Humanities, Law, Entrepreneurship, and more.
