We’re so excited you’re here—and even more excited that you're thinking about joining the West Ridge Middle School Orchestra family! Whether you’ve been dreaming of playing the violin, vibing with the viola, chilling with the cello, or booming on the bass, there’s a place for you here.
In orchestra, you’ll learn how to read music, play an instrument, and perform with your friends on stage. But more than that—you’ll build confidence, teamwork, focus, and friendships that last far beyond the final bow.
No experience? No problem! We'll guide you every step of the way—from choosing your instrument to performing in your very first concert. 🎻💚
If you're currently in 5th grade and already play violin, viola, cello, or bass, we'd love to have you join the WRMS Orchestra! Students with previous string experience will enroll in Concert Orchestra during their 6th grade year. This class is designed to help experienced young musicians transition into middle school orchestra while learning the fundamentals of ensemble playing, rehearsal techniques, and what it means to be a member of the WRMS Orchestra family.
Students entering Concert Orchestra should submit a short audition video by May 1, 2027.
Please include:
🎻 A G Major scale (1–3 octaves, as appropriate for your instrument and current ability level)
🎵 A solo or piece that best demonstrates your student's current playing ability
Students entering Concert Orchestra should have completed Suzuki Book 1 or have comparable playing experience.
Please email audition videos to ecompton@eanesisd.net.
Think of this as an introduction! The video gives us a chance to get to know your student musically and learn about their current playing level before the school year begins.
