What Our Members Are Saying

I appreciate a community with like-minded teachers. I appreciate candid, informed conversations with educators. This is such important work.

~Allison Scacco (TLC)

Teaching Special Education so often makes me feel like the outlier in a group of many teachers, like TIA. But I LOVE TIA because it's more overall tips and tricks for me as an individual and as a teacher. I love having time together to get to know the group as well as get to know smaller groups. Having time to get to know other teachers makes me feel more comfortable at this school. I am 100000% comfortable in the Special Ed bubble of teachers, but there are so many more teachers at this school that I would have never met without joining TIA. Having this time to work together and brainstorm together when problems arise is so helpful! It is also wonderful to learn from peers!

~Shelby Kroll (SPED)

I love meeting with teachers from other subjects, time to reflect on things that went well and things that didn't, sharing our feelings about school climate and student climate, and brainstorming ideas with new people.

~Martha Thomas (Science)

The ability to have conversations across curriculum and to have issues discussed and ideas/solutions proposed is immensely valuable.

~ James Baker (English)

TIA is a wonderful resource for teachers to come together and support each other with not just ideas and new ways to teach things in the classroom, but also to support each other with the mental and emotional load that teaching brings with it. As teachers, we are constantly "on," focusing on the needs of students before all others, trying our best to look like we've got it together, and putting our own concerns on the backburner for later. It's so nice to be able to drop that pretense for even a few hours and just be with other teachers who get it. And as an elective teacher who doesn't have a PLC, it's so refreshing to have adults to bounce ideas off of and learn from. It's always the one meeting or PD session I'm looking forward to.

~Rebecca Thomas (Art)

The fact that we can learn from and get great ideas from math, science, english, world languages, SPED, TLC, yoga, and CTE is what makes it particularly good. Everyone can bring their experiences to the table, and everyone benefits from it.

~Natalie Cannon (Latin)

Just the understanding that I am not the only one feeling the way I feel and struggling with the same things. It's a space that 100% makes me a better teacher.

~Lindsay Stokes (CTE)

What I really appreciate about TIA is that I get to collaborate with teachers in different departments and who I wouldn't see otherwise. Even though what a Physics teacher is doing in their class won't work in mine, hearing their approach to their subject and the craft of teaching is invaluable. In only one year, I feel such camaraderie with my peers because it's a positive and safe space to share and discuss.

~Lee Carnes (English)

TIA is an inspiring group of educators, and I am grateful to be a part of this community. Each time I leave a meeting, I feel more motivated and determined than when I entered. The group has been very receptive to learning about yoga and mindful strategies. I love the feeling of helping educators continue to support themselves and students!
