This English III course guides students through advanced language arts skills focused on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and critical thinking. Rooted in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), students will engage with increasingly complex texts across multiple genres, analyze authors’ purposes and literary elements, and develop sophisticated writing abilities in a variety of forms including literary, informational, and argumentative texts. Emphasis is placed on academic discourse, vocabulary development, research skills, and effective communication, preparing students to become confident, self-directed learners and communicators in academic and real-world contexts.

Westlake High School utilizes the Google Classroom platform to share classroom resources, many assignments, and assessment preparation materials to students. WHS students will receive a classroom code to access these materials, submit assignments, and track any missing work.
