Mr. Kevin Yeoman

This is my fifteenth year as the ESL Student Support Specialist at Westlake High School, and I am truly grateful to be part of a wonderful team of teachers and administrators who are dedicated to helping each and every student succeed. Before I began teaching in 2009, I was employed in the private sector for many years. I worked in the semiconductor industry and later moved into retail as a store manager. In 2004, I earned an Associate of Arts degree from Temple College in Temple, Texas, and in that same year, I traveled to Cuernavaca, Mexico for a Spanish immersion opportunity at Instituto Mexicano de Español y Cultura. I then enrolled at St. Edward's University in Austin and graduated in 2008 with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Spanish. I went on to earn my teaching credentials through the teacher certification program at Region XIII ESC. My certifications include ELAR 4-8 and 8-12 as well as ESL 4-12.

Each new year, I set very high expectations for myself and for my students. I firmly believe in the potential within each of my students for high levels of achievement in learning and growing as both a student and as an individual. As difficult as learning a new language, content, or skill may be, it is a matter of taking one small step at a time and taking it one day at a time. When we do this, success will present itself in ways we never thought possible. So together, we'll take those first steps and learn something new and wonderful today.
