So, this is my 13h year at Westlake High School. Majority of my time here has been in the Special Education Department. I have served as a Behavior Support Teacher, Life Skills Teacher and Collaborative Teacher for Math & Science. I have been a general education teacher for Chemistry/IPC on the main campus. This is my 6th year on the general education side, at Westlake High School, however I've had the ability to learn many subjects over the years, and am qualified to teach Physical Science & Mathematics 7-12 in addition to my Special Education Certification. This is my 1st year at the TLC
I have been in Austin for many years, working for various non profit agencies as a Behavior Coordinator before making my way to Eanes ISD.
I have a dog, who you will meet below. I probably know way too much about comic books, particularly Batman. My affinity for the Dark Knight knows no bounds.
I enjoy the typical Austin lifestyle, hiking the Greenbelt, live music, and eating tacos from every establishment here.
I love to draw and run during down time. I am anxious about this year, like most teachers I know, but know that I will continue to support our students the best way I can.
Meet Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw was a transplant to Austin when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston.
She had been previously adopted but due to behavior challenges she was was surrendered to the shelter.
Ravenclaw has a history of being abused and neglected by a previous owner which has shaped her viewpoint of humans.
She required constant training and behavioral management from Austin Pets Alive!
She was successfully put with a foster parent who would care for her the way she needed to, but for a while it seemed there could not be the right fit for her.
At the end of the 2018-2019 school year, I stumbled upon her Adopt Me page, and after several meetings of not disturbing her or invading her personal space, she adopted me on June 8, 2019.
My life has completely changed. She is the first dog I've owned since being an adult, and I could not picture life without her. We may always need to keep our distance from other dogs and humans while out, but she's got her forever home.
