Course Overview

Accounting is an absolutely vital aspect of any business. This class will serve as an introduction to the principles and practice of accounting, while also touching on finance and how the two subjects are interrelated. This course places an emphasis on how to record, understand, analyze, and report financial information.

We will learn to read and understand the financial statements, as well as how to carry out the practice of financial bookkeeping. Students will develop accounting skills for recording and tracking cash, inventory, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and more.

If time allows, we also explore additional valuable topics within financial education, such as Income Tax and Investing

Required Class Materials

Students are required to bring charged iPad to class daily
All class material and assignments will be available via Google Classroom and Google Calendar
Communication will be facilitated through school-issued email
Desktop computers are provided in the classroom, if preferred over iPad

Google Classroom

Westlake High School utilizes the Google Classroom platform to share classroom resources, assignments, and assessment preparation materials to students. Students may join the Accounting Google Classroom on the first day of class.
