About Me

Welcome everyone!

I am incredibly excited to bring AP Business with Personal Finance to Westlake for this first time ever. This course is a brand new AP course around the country, so we will be learning and growing as the year goes along. This new AP offering presents a tremendous opportunity to explore introductory business topics with a bit more rigor, as well as implement a more robust financial education.

I am especially interested in financial education and growing the level of financial literacy in our community. Over the summers, I run Westlake Stock Market Challenge- a summer long investing competition where young Eanes students strive to manage the most profitable portfolio possible. I also coach our UIL Accounting team, and enjoy serving as a DECA sponsor. 

This will be my 4th year teaching at Westlake. I am originally from Aurora, Colorado and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder from 2013-2016, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Finance. I have varied experience in the business world and worked as a Financial Project Manager and International Travel Agent before jumping into teaching.

Outside of school, I still operate my own travel brokerage business, Emprise Travel Company. I am also currently pursuing my CPA certification. I enjoy doing anything outdoors, especially hiking and camping, with my wife and 2 children. We have a two year old son and recently welcomed a baby girl in May. Being a dad and husband is my life's greatest joy. 

I have a strong enthusiasm for mentoring young people and am fortunate to get to work with all the bright students at Westlake. In my classroom, I strive to help students develop critical thinking and creative problem solving skills that will be valuable in both the collegiate and business worlds.
