Unified Swimming

A completed Medical Form must be on file with Eanes ISD or brought to the first practice. If swimmers have not previously participated in Special Olympics and have a physical form from this school year completed by a medical doctor, this may serve in lieu of pages 5 & 6 on the linked medical form.

Swimmers will provide their own goggles.

Westlake Swim Caps will be provided, but not required. Please bring your own if you'd prefer. Swim caps are not a requirement.

Swimmers will bring their own towels and a bottle of water.

Swimmers will come to practice dressed out in their preferred appropriate swimwear -one piece for females and trunks for males. T-shirts are allowed over swimsuits if preferred.

 Prior to joining the team, each athlete will complete a basic swim test to measure their ability to safely participate.  The swim test will consist of:

•  The athlete demonstrating that they can swim continuously the length of the pool (short course) without a flotation device, holding the wall, or holding a landline.

•  The athlete can climb out of a pool independently with the use of a ladder or off of the wall.

• No specific strokes need to be used to get across the pool as long as the athlete can demonstrate an ability to get across the pool independently.
